Maritime and Transport Business Solutions (MTBS) is a private limited company set up by Royal Haskoning and Rgroup Advisory in order to respond to
the growing demand for creative forms of financing in the maritime market. This
new consultancy is a result of the cooperation that has existed for a long time
in the form of a joint venture between Royal Haskoning and Rgroup Advisory. MTBS
combines leading expertise in the maritime sector with financial knowledge. Over
the last few years the joint venture MTBS has already built up the position of
market leader in Africa and elsewhere.
MTBS brings together the technical expertise and project experience that Royal Haskoning has in all big harbours in the world and the financial knowledge of Rgroup Advisory to offer solutions for complex transport problems in the maritime world. Guiding private-public cooperation, arranging finance, developing investment strategies, risk analyses and feasibility studies are examples of MTBS’s package of services. There is a growing trend in the maritime sector to privatise harbours and terminals to a greater or lesser extent and MTBS is focusing on it. This is an important development, particularly in Africa and Asia, where for the most part harbours are still in the hands of the public sector.
The office of MTBS is in Rotterdam. MTBS has two directors: Paul van Eulem (from Royal Haskoning) and Kees Hörchner (from Rgroup Advisory). In addition MTBS presently employs five consultants. Currently MTBS is carrying out projects in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Royal Haskoning is the majority shareholder in MTBS.
